Let me tell you a story

Today was the day for reveals for the 2014 Narnia Fic Exchange and for NFE Madness, so let's talk about fic.

First off, I received the most gorgeous story:

Ruth put so much care and effort into making this story perfect for me, and I just LOVE it! Peter/Caspian! My beloved OTP! Getting a chance at a happy-for-a-while, if not a happy ever after! It's perfect and sweet, and she used so much of my headcanon in this (Peter being a musician, and Caspian an artist!) and it just made me grin from ear to ear as I read it.



Okay, on to the fic I wrote.

Summary:

Three adventures Polly Plummer never had, and two she gave to others.

This was written for redsnake05 for this prompt: I can't imagine Polly settling down to an ordinary life after her adventures. I'd be happy to see her back in England figuring out who she is and what she's doing, or perhaps a canon divergence where she and Digory get to have more adventures in Narnia or in other worlds. Perhaps there is a threat to the Tree during the Golden Age, and she and Digory get sent back to deal with it? Feel free to include other characters or OCs as needed.

I was so happy with this prompt! I have a lot of headcanon for Polly (OBVIOUSLY) and I always wanted her to have more adventures after The Magician's Nephew. Also, I didn't like that last glimpse of Polly we had in The Last Battle, so I wanted to write something that eased that a bit. I had SO MUCH FUN writing this. It could have been a lot longer, if I had more time - I wanted Polly to have a few more adventures - but as it was, it worked as a kind of five things fic: three adventures for Polly, and two that she had a hand in. I wanted to spend much more time on the day sorcery, because that was delightful to think about magical uses for. I feel like I could write a whole book about that. Maybe someday!

Title: A Parfit Gentil Knight
Possible Spoilers/Warnings: Assumes familiarity with all the books. Reepichceep/Susan romance – mostly one-sided and unrequited. A mix of bookverse and movieverse – book references, but uses events from the Prince Caspian movie.
Summary: Reepicheep always wanted to be a Knight of Narnia, in the service of the Gentle Queen.
Author's notes: Written for the 2012 Narnia Fic Exchange, for TastyAsItGets, who wanted "an unlikely pairing, something ridiculous like Puddleglum/Lady of the Green Kirtle, except not that." Thanks to Jess for the beta.

You know, it occurs to me that I didn't even post this in my own space, I was so busy advertising at other comms. So let's remedy that! :D



The Narnia Fic Exchange is an annual anonymous fic exchange, similar to Secret Santas and other fanwork gift exchanges.

Participants submit a request, with prompt ideas such as characters, situations, and themes. The mods match these requests with another participant, who then writes the requested fic. All participants receive a fic based on their request/prompt. The authors are anonymous until all the stories have been posted.
